Paul A. Stehle, age 84, August 16, 2003 at Lutheran Village of Columbus.
Charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bexley, Ohio, member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley. Longtime resident of Bexley and Bradenton, Florida. Former member of Gloria Day Lutheran Church on Anna Maria Island, Florida. 1937 graduate of South High School, Flight Instructor for the Lee Miller Flying School and The Ohio State University Department of Aviation. Decorated U.S. Navy Combat Pilot, Pacific Theater, World War II. Attained rank of Lieutenant. Retired with 35 years service as a corporate pilot with The John W. Galbreath Company. He was a member of Quiet Birdmen, Professional Pilots Association, and the Berwick Kiwanis. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and for the Ohio History of Flight Museum.
He was preceded in death by parents Frank and Flora (Zimpfer) Stehle, and brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Mary Stehle. Survived by loving and caring wife of 60 years, Ruth (Schleppi); children, Timothy (Jane) Stehle, New Albany, and Janet (Dennis) King, Jackson Center; grandchildren, Cory (Mike) Hughes, Laura Stehle, Anna King, and Andrew King; sister, Helen (Robert) Huntley; sisters-in-law, Loine Backulich and Bernadine (Floyd) Cantrell; and many nieces and nephews. Also loyal friend, “Ozzie” Boock. A special thank you to Chaplain James Jensen and the many staff who took care of Paul at Lutheran Village.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19, 2003 from 4-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 East Main Street, Bexley, Ohio, Pastors Thomas L. Hudson, Dennis R. King, and Gerald D. Cantrell officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family will also receive friends at 10 a.m. until the time of service at church Wednesday.
